Kansas City SDS Protest At Wal-Mart

On Friday June 2 Kansas City SDS members joined forty members of local community organizations for this year's second "Quarantine Wal-Mart" action. The action took place at the office of local advertising firm Bernstein-Rein, who have for several years handled Wal-Mart's PR work.

Pariticipants in the action wore hazmat suits and sought to inform passers-by and tenants of the building about the hazards Wal-Mart poses to workers and communities. Protestors marched to the building, placed emergency tape around the perimeter of the building, and passed out information about the quarantine.

In addition to this action, KC SDS members participated in a protest May 15 at the local Mexican Consulate to decry the Mexican government's brutal repression in Texcoco and Atenco. KC SDS will be participating in the "Harass the Brass" campaign for the remainder of the year, seeking to shut down military recruiters at recruiting stations and community events, as well as local industries tied to the war machine.
